Description
Ryan Jones is a Greenwich native who graduated from Greenwich High School in 2002. He feels fortunate beyond words to be able to teach high school history, government, and politics in his old alma mater.
After attending Boston College and a brief stint in the military, Ryan dabbled in the fitness industry and food service before meeting a girl (now his wife, Megan) who suggested he pursue a career in education. After receiving his MA from Fairfield University, he landed back in Greenwich and has never looked back. He loves his current courseload which consists of AP US History, AP US Government, AP Comparative Government, and an elective specifically on the Civil War and Reconstruction. In 2022, he was a recipient of Greenwich’s Distinguished Teacher Award, one of the proudest accomplishments of his life.
Ryan is lucky in that his hobbies coincide with his profession. He has taken (dragged?) his two sons Jack and Andrew to numerous Civil War battlefields and dozens of museums. He loves being outside or on the water with his family whenever possible. In the summer, the Jones Family can be found in one of their favorite places, Cape Cod or Vermont.

AP Exam
May 9th Test Date
Course Description
This four-class course will serve as a thorough review of the most essential APUSH key concepts and historical thinking skills. In total, this ten-hour review course is divided into four 2.5-hour sessions led by experienced instructors with a history of guiding students to exam excellence. To help every student excel, every class will focus on the acquisition of historical content through engaging and interactive lessons while simultaneously practicing effective best practice strategies to improve success on the stimulus-based multiple-choice questions and all free response questions (short answer questions, long essay questions, and document-based questions). The sessions will be scaffolded to build upon prior skills and knowledge learned in previous sessions to further develop key historical skills of causation, comparison, continuity and change over time, document sourcing, evidenced-based argumentation, and developing a complex understanding essential to score all writing points on free-response rubrics. To help in the retention of key best practices and awareness of common misconceptions on the exam, each session includes a session packet with exam tips, practice questions, and key content organizers. Upon the conclusion of every session, students have the opportunity to complete free response questions that the instructor will review and return with detailed feedback on each APUSH rubric point. Upon course completion, you will enter the exam with more confidence and a rehearsed strategy of how to approach all question types.
